Dreaming Creek Opens New Saw Mill

Dreaming Creek increases capacity!

Dreaming Creek Timber Frame Homes has opened a new, custom designed, state of the art saw mill. The speed and accuracy of the LT-70 Woodmizer mill allows lengths up to 45 feet and the custom designed material handling system doubles the capacity and compresses the amount of time it takes to produce an order. Because the new thin kerf band blade set up will have such accurate sawing, a projected 10% overall increase in yield can be achieved. The new mill also provides the operators with a safer work environment, significantly reduced fuel consumption, and the capability to recycle the waste.

Another popular product produced at the mill is the live edge “flitch”. With widths up to 50” these flitches make for great bar tops, table tops, and headboards/ footboards for beds along with most any other application you can think of that requires a unique piece of wood.

Dreaming Creek's Woodmizer saw mill has the capability to produce timbers 45 feet & longer with widths up to 24 inches. To date the longest timber produced at our mill measured 12 inches by 18 inches by 52 feet. For timbers with widths greater than 24 inches we utilize our "Sperber" chainsaw mill. This allows us the capability to produce timbers with exceptionally large widths.  Dreaming Creek's Show Home showcases boards with widths as great as 40 inches.

Over the past 25 years Dreaming Creek has built some of the finest homes across America with timber cut from their own mill. Many competitors purchase their timber from Dreaming Creek and consider it the finest available. Structural members and planking for wooden boat builders is a popular product because of the high quality required and the ability to meet those specifications which are similar to that used in timber frames.  A lot of the timber frame homes built in New England during the 17th - 19th centuries were constructed by boat builders from Europe that were familiar with the joinery techniques required in heavy timber construction.
